THE PLACE TO BE WHEN YOU’RE NOT AT CAMP

We all know how important it is right now for kids to feel seen and connected. We specialize in this at camp, and it’s why we’re all counting down the days until we can be together again in person. A few months ago, we might have said that the only way to feel this camp magic is to be at camp, but after months of virtual programming, zoom bunk hangouts, and live song sessions, we now know that virtual connections can be meaningful too, and the camp community can provide comfort, happiness, and fun – even from home. It is with this in mind that we are pleased to tell you about a new and exciting way Camp JCA Shalom campers can be connected to each other and to camp online!

2021 enrolled campers are invited to join Camp JCA Shalom on Jewish Camp @ Home (JC@H), a special app just for us that gives kids Camp JCA Shalom at their fingertips. Our new app was created exclusively for Jewish summer camps and is designed for us to have our own virtual space, where only Camp JCA Shalom campers and staff can gather.  The site is free from outside advertising, is easy to use, and allows campers to play in a monitored, closed social network, access on-demand camp activities, be notified about camp programs and news, and be part of camp fun from home. You can watch a preview video to learn more about the app, and read some Frequently Asked Questions for families at https://jewishcampathome.org/faq-for-families/.

Ready for your camper to be a part of the fun? If your camper is enrolled for summer 2021 and you have not already received the link to register, email info@shalominstitute.com and someone will send you the information.

You may also want to bookmark the user guide for you and your child, including videos to show you all the ways your child can join the online fun.

As part of the registration process, you’ll be asked as the parent to read and sign off on the Terms of Use for the site. We encourage you to review safe, respectful, and appropriate digital citizenship with your child. Here is a helpful video about online safety from Common Sense Media to watch together. Each summer, we work together to create a community where every camper can feel a sense of belonging, explore new interests, and build new connections. Just like at camp, these things will be possible on JC@H and campers are responsible for their own behavior and communication as part of our Camp JCA Shalom community on JC@H. Users can be removed from the online community at any time if their actions are found to not meet the 10 Core Values of Camp JCA Shalom.

We look forward to connecting with your kids online!
