Camp Director

Allison Blonder

Growing up in a small town outside of Dallas, Allison Blonder found her love for Jewish community by attending Jewish overnight camp and has had a passion for Jewish camping ever since.   Her camp experience led to increased involvement in the Jewish community, including forming her synagogue’s NFTY youth group and becoming active with Hillel while attending the University of Texas at San Antonio. Allison joined the Shalom Institute team as a Program Director in 2017 and joined Elisa Becker at Camp JCA Shalom Day Camp that summer as Assistant Director. In 2019 Allison was honored to become a part of the Hazon JOFEE Fellowship, which trains Fellows to build their skills and knowledge in the core JOFEE disciplines (outdoors, food, farming, environment) with a focus on successful program implementation. Allison is currently training to become a Site Visitor for the American Camp Association of Southern California and is very excited for her first summer as Day Camp Director!

What a Staff!

The heart of Camp JCA Shalom is our friendly and loving staff. Staff is carefully selected for their skills and sensitivity in working with children. All lead staff are certified in first aid and CPR by the American Red Cross.

All staff are required to participate in an orientation and training program prior to the campers’ arrival. Low camper-to-staff ratios ensure that each camper receives attention and guidance throughout his/her days at camp. In addition, we have talented staff who run our arts & crafts, nature/garden, dance, sports, aquatics, Judaica, and other specialty programs.

Camper safety and well being is always a top priority for Camp JCA Shalom Day Camp.  Along with highly trained staff we follow all ACA (American Camp Association) guidelines.
