Summer 2021 Day Camp Update

Dear Day Camp Families,

We know that many of you are eager for news about our 2021 camp season and we are grateful for your patience as we take time to consider multiple scenarios.  The safety of our campers and staff remains our number one priority as we consider the possible protocols and best practices.

We will not be opening registration until we can promise a camp program that is both safe and enjoyable for our campers and staff.

If we can run our day camp, what we do know is:

  • Our camper capacity for each week-long session will be reduced to allow for social distancing and any other protocols that may be put in place.

  • Masks will be required, possibly for the entire day, for all campers and staff (and family members at drop-off/pick-up)

  • Only campers and camp staff will be allowed to enter camp, parents or guardians will be required to stay inside of their car during drop-off and pick-up.

  • We will run in “pods” where each group will be a pod together and pods will not mix.  This will require a change to activities in which multiple groups, or all of camp, would normally be together.

  • The only way that day camp can run in-person safely is if everyone acts as if their hygiene and physical distancing outside of camp directly affects the health and wellness of every child, staff member, and the people they live with – because they do. Therefore families will agree to all of our health and wellness expectations regarding, but not limited to, illness, hygiene, and physical distancing without exception. Failure to meet these expectations will be grounds for immediate disenrollment.

You can expect more communication from us as our plans and protocols evolve along with best practices and Public Health guidelines. While Day Camps are currently permitted to operate under LA County’s Public Health order, we want to ensure that we can deliver a program that is safe for campers, their families, and staff while still maintaining the quality of program you expect from Camp JCA Shalom Day Camp.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have.  For the fastest response email me, as I am working from home and only receive voicemail messages from my work line.

Wishing you and your loved ones good health,
